About the role
The role of Chef at Harbour Hospice is really special. You get to talk with patients then design and cook meals from scratch to suit their appetite. Your team share a passion for serving home cooked, nutritious meals and baking. You’ll design and cook three main meals a day plus morning and afternoon teas. We’ll expect you to get stuck into everything from food prep to dishes, to serving meals and making teas and coffees.
This is a casual position based at the Hibiscus Hospice in Red Beach. We're looking for someone with the flexibility to work to cover leave as and when required. For the right person, this could lead to a permanent position.
About you
You might be qualified or not. The key thing we’re looking for is someone who loves to cook for the benefit of others. You should share our love of baking and have the potential to create a wide variety of meals to suit different appetites.
What you’ll bring:
- Experience in a commercial kitchen (preferred but not essential)
- Knowledge of food safety procedures
- Enthusiasm to learn and take direction
- A flexible and compassionate attitude
- Ability to get stuck in and take initiative

Harbour Hospice is one of the largest hospices in New Zealand, caring for patients and their whānau for almost 40 years. Every day we care for more than 350 people across the North Shore, Hibiscus Coast and Warkworth/Wellsford regions, supporting them at home (or in one of our three sites) to live every moment in whatever way is most important to them.
Our bespoke services, given free of charge, include medical care, spiritual support, physiotherapy, social activities and more.
