About the role

Our Hospice Inpatient Unit in Takapuna is a a unique nursing environment. Completely re-furbished, the unit currently has 9 beds in operation. We aim for a ratio of three nurses to every patient. As a Registered Nurse in the IPU, you’ll work with the multi-disciplinary team and take pride in delivering holistic palliative care to patients and their families. You’ll provide symptom and pain management, respite and end-of-life care for patients with a wide range of diagnoses and at different stages of their disease trajectory.

About you

You are a Registered Nurse, ideally with palliative care experience, but we’ll also consider nurses from similar specialties such as oncology, neurology or haematology. You have a genuine interest in palliative care, and you’re dedicated to working with patients and families with palliative needs, bringing compassion to all that you do.

You will demonstrate:  

• Registered Nurse, New Zealand Nursing Council and a current NZ Annual Practising Certificate
• A genuine interest in and desire to further develop in palliative care 
• Commitment to achieving PDRP Level 3 within 12 months of employment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
• Adaptability, and a calm, mature attitude

Every day we care for more than 350 people across the North Shore, Hibiscus Coast and Warkworth/Wellsford regions, supporting them at home (or in one of our three sites) to live every moment in whatever way is most important to them.

Our salary ranges start from graduate level through to experienced palliative care nursing ($31.08 - $41.15). Higher hourly rates based on achieving current PDRP.
