Shift times: Monday to Thursday - 8.00am to 6.00pm (inclusive of breaks)
Harbour Hospice is the only specialist, palliative care provider for families living in the Hibiscus Coast, North Shore and Warkworth / Wellsford communities. We provide compassionate, free care working primarily with patients, families and carers in their homes, and also within our three hospice sites. Our bespoke services include medical care, spiritual support, physiotherapy, social activities and more, with an emphasis on helping people live every moment in whatever way is important to them.
We’re looking for an experienced Chef/Cook to join our team at Hibiscus Coast Hospice to cook for our patients and their families who are staying on the In-patient Unit as well as providing catering for our Day Groups and Meetings.
Hospice has a real emphasis on serving home cooked, nutritious meals, just like Mum used to make, as for baking our scones are legendary so a real passion for baking is essential. We are looking for a Chef/Cook who has the ability to think on their feet and be flexible with adapting the food they are planning to serve to the needs of a patient whose appetite can change within a short space of time.
This role doesn’t just confine you to the kitchen, you’ll be working closely with our Nursing Team and you’ll visit our patients to discuss their meal requirements and catering needs. Needless to say you’ll be a real people person and take real pride in the food you serve yet not be offended if the patient becomes too tired or too poorly to eat it.
Previous experience within an aged care or palliative care setting would be fantastic as well as the flexibility to pick up additional hours to cover sick leave, annual leave and ad hoc catering support.
