Mō te tūnga | About the role
The role of Chef at Harbour Hospice is special. You get to talk with patients who are receiving end-of-life care, then design and cook meals from scratch to suit their appetite. You will:
- Plan and prepare three main meals a day plus morning and afternoon tea
- Cater for staff functions and events
- Work alongside volunteers who help you in the kitchen, motivating and guiding them
- Collaborate with the nursing and medical team, placing patient needs at the heart of all you do
This is a part-time position based at Kārohirohi North Shore Hospice in Takapuna, working 8am to 6pm every Friday and Saturday. Flexibility to travel on occasion to our other sites in Red Beach and Warkworth is preferred.

As a qualified Chef you love to cook for the benefit of others. You’ll share our love of baking and be able to create a wide variety of meals to suit different appetites.
What you’ll bring:
- Experience in a commercial kitchen
- Knowledge of food safety procedures
- Enthusiasm to learn and take direction
- A flexible and compassionate attitude
- Proven ability to get stuck in and take initiative

Harbour Hospice is one of the largest hospices in Aotearoa caring for close to 400 people across the North Shore, Hibiscus Coast and Warkworth/Wellsford regions. We support and provide holistic care to people in their homes, in one of our two inpatient units, or in community programmes offered at each of our three sites.
